In a significant move towards electrification, Range Rover has unveiled its first all-electric SUV in the UK, with a starting price of £154,070. The luxury vehicle, aptly named the Range Rover Electric, is now available for order with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2027. This launch marks a pivotal moment for Jaguar Land Rover as it transitions to electric vehicles, with production slated to take place at their Solihull plant in the UK.

The Range Rover Electric showcases impressive performance features, boasting two electric motors that collectively deliver up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque. This enables the SUV to sprint from 0 to 60mph in a swift 4.3 seconds. Additionally, the vehicle offers a substantial driving range of up to 372 miles, as per the WLTP testing cycle, making it a competitive choice in the luxury electric vehicle market.

Equipped with a 118.5kWh battery, the SUV supports 800-volt fast charging technology. This allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes, provided the conditions are optimal. This rapid charging capability is a crucial feature for consumers looking for convenience and efficiency in electric vehicles.

Maintaining the brand’s hallmark luxurious design and off-road prowess, the Range Rover Electric integrates an advanced electric powertrain while enhancing its aerodynamic profile. Notably, it retains the ability to wade through water up to 900mm deep, ensuring that it meets the demands of both urban and adventurous terrains.

The development and testing of this electric SUV have been comprehensive, spanning several years. To support production, Jaguar Land Rover’s Wolverhampton facility will supply battery packs and electric drive units, underscoring the company’s commitment to its electric future. With these strategic advancements, Range Rover is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle sector.
